Ad space surges by 32 pc on Print advertising in H1 of 2022: TAM Report

According to TAM AdEx-Report on Print advertising for Jan-Jun’22, ad space increased by 32 pc over the corresponding period in 2021. Ad space in first half of 2021-22 grew by 40 pc and 90 pc compared to same period of 2020 respectively.

Among the Leading Sectors on Print from Jan-Jun’22, Services maintained its top position with 16 pc share of ad space followed by Education with 13 pc share. Top three sectors together accounted for nearly 40 pc share of Ad Space. 

In the leading categories, Cars topped the list followed by Properties/Real Estates. Cars and Coaching/Competitive Exam Centre maintained its rank in H1 of year 2021-22. Six categories moved up in ranking during Jan-Jun’22. Only two categories were from Auto, Retail and Education sectors each. Top 10 categories together accounted to 35 pc share of Ad Space in Print.

Among the top advertisers on Print, SBS Biotech topped the list followed by Maruti Suzuki India. Four new advertisers entered the list. Ranking of Patanjali and Ruchi Soya shot up to the top 10 list of Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-Jun’21. Top 10 Advertisers contributed to 17 pc share of Ad Space in Print.

In the top brands, Fiitjee topped the list followed by LIC-IPO. 103 K+ brands advertised in Print during Jan-Jun’22. Among the Top 10, two brands were from BFSI Sector and four from Personal Healthcare sector. Top 10 Brands contributed to 6 pc share of Print Ad Space.

Among the Top Growing Categories, 400+ categories registered Positive Growth. Properties/Real Estates topped the list by 52 pc share in ad space followed by Retail Outlets-Jewellers by 86 pc. In terms of growth pc, Branded Jewellery category witnessed highest growth pc of 2.8 Times in the Jan-Jun’22 among the Top 10.

In the Leading Exclusive Advertisers and Brands during Jan-Jun’22, 54 K+ advertisers & 70 K+ brands exclusively advertised in Print compared to Jan-Jun’21. B C Hasaram & Sons and LIC-IPO were the top exclusive advertiser and brand respectively in Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-Jun’21.

Sales Promotion advertising covered 28 pc share of Ad Space in Print during Jan-Jun’22. Among Sales Promotions, Multiple Promotion was on top with 43 pc share of Ad Space followed by Discount Promotion with 37 pc. Top two promotions solely covered more than 75 pc share of Ad Space during year Jan-Jun’22.
