New Delhi: Airbus has announced the appointment of Jürgen Westermeier as President and Managing Director for India and South Asia, effective September 1, 2025. He will succeed Rémi Maillard, who has been elevated to the role of Executive Vice-President Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology at Airbus.
Currently serving as Executive Vice-President and Chief Procurement Officer at Airbus, Jürgen will now lead Airbus’ operations across the region, encompassing Commercial Aircraft, Defence and Space, and Helicopters. His new mandate includes driving aircraft sales, strengthening the company’s regional footprint across services, engineering, digital, innovation and training, and further advancing Airbus’ strategic commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Jürgen, 53, joined Airbus in 2020 as Chief Procurement Officer, where he successfully led procurement across divisions, building resilient supplier relationships and streamlining procurement systems and tools.
He began his professional journey in 1998 with BMW, where he held key leadership positions spanning Information Services, Motorcycles Purchasing, Quality Management, and Cost Engineering.
A graduate in Industrial Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, Jürgen brings over two decades of cross-functional leadership experience to his new role.
