New Delhi: Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”) has announced significant progress in its mission to safeguard citizens of Delhi-NCR from rising online fraud. In just 43 days since the launch of its AI-powered fraud detection system, the company has successfully protected over 3.5 million users in the region—proactively intercepting harmful links and securing digital journeys in real time.
The cutting-edge system, which is automatically enabled for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers, is designed to scan and filter malicious links shared across SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, email, and various browsers. Leveraging real-time threat intelligence, the system examines over 1 billion URLs daily and blocks access to fraudulent sites in under 100 milliseconds.
For example, if a user receives a message like, “Your package is delayed. Track it here: http://www.tracky0urparcell.com,” and clicks the link, Airtel’s system springs into action—instantly scanning the URL and, if suspicious, blocking access. Users are immediately redirected to a warning message: “Blocked! Airtel found this site dangerous!” This seamless, behind-the-scenes protection helps users avoid falling prey to phishing scams, fake delivery updates, and spurious banking alerts.

Nidhi Lauria, CEO – Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh (West), Bharti Airtel, said, “At Airtel, we are dedicated to protecting our customers from various types of fraud. By incorporating our network with an AI-driven fraud detection solution, we guarantee that our customers are protected from all new threats without requiring any action on their part. We consider it crucial to act now to secure the digital environment of tomorrow, and we take pride in being at the forefront of this initiative by providing a safer and more comprehensive network for our customers in Delhi-NCR.”
As part of this effort to bolster cybersecurity, Lauria also met with Mr. Sanjay Arora, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, to share details about the fraud detection system and explore collaborative avenues to enhance digital safety across the region.
Given Delhi-NCR’s status as one of India’s most digitally advanced regions, the threat of online scams continues to escalate. Airtel’s AI-driven platform offers fraud alerts in multiple languages, including Hindi—ensuring accessibility across digitally underserved districts and populations where English is not commonly spoken.
The platform requires no installation, operates silently in the background, and is free of cost—empowering users across demographics including senior citizens, students, homemakers, and working professionals.
Since its national rollout, Airtel’s system has blocked more than 188,000 malicious links and protected 106 million users across the country—cementing its role as a digital guardian in India’s evolving cyber landscape.
