New Delhi: Amit Khare returns as secretary, Information, and Broadcasting as Ravi Mittal gets transferred to sports and youth affairs with Prime Minister Narendra Modi effecting a massive bureaucratic reshuffle.
The charge of Information and Broadcasting has been entrusted to Amit Khare in addition to his existing portfolio as a higher education secretary in the HRD ministry. He returns back to I&B Ministry at a time when news media, be it print or TV, advertising and film industry is facing serious challenges in the face of coronavirus.
Amit Khare is a 1985-batch Jharkhand cadre officer. Previously he held the charge of I&B Secretary between May 2018 to December 2019. He is regarded as an officer who is well versed with the issues related to Information and Broadcasting ministry and the industry.
Moreover, the bureaucratic reshuffle has witnessed Ali Rizvi getting elevated as a special secretary for Information and Broadcasting ministry.
