Senior bureaucrat Apurva Chandra has been appointed the Information and Broadcasting Secretary, a Personnel Ministry order said on Thursday.
A 1988-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre, Chandra is currently the Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The Personnel Ministry’s order stated that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Chandra as secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. This comes with the appointment of Anurag Thakur as I&B Minister.
Amit Khare, the Higher Education Secretary was holding the additional charge of the post of Information and Broadcasting secretary for more than a year now.
