Kerala : The new series “Kasthooriman” starts this week on Asianet . The family drama opens with a dream sequence, of Keerthi, the second of the three girls of Sethulakshmi a danseuse and the present torch bearer of a rich legacy of dancers having a nightmare. The nightmare depicts a revenue recovery team attaching their ancestral property, “Kalakshetra”to the Government due to the debts incurred. Soon Keerthi shirks off the dream and awakes to the reality. The household is on the verge of the betrothal ceremony of the eldest girl, Kavya. All members including the patriarch, Krishnan Kutty mash, the celebrated dancer of yesteryear’s and the children’s grandfather, provides instructions and guidance to the arrangements.
Kavya, the eldest of the three girls, Kavya, Keerth i& Kalyani, is employed and her marriage is fixed to a boy from a rich household. Since the marriage is of his choice, the groom’s family members, especially his mother is not happy and is in a compromising position. The family has an outhouse which is rented out to Sreejith, a colleague of Kavya, and to a fellow mate.
During the grand Engagement ceremony, the fiance’s mother- in – law, puts forward the demand that the place, Kalakshetra where the ceremony is held, should be written in the boy’s name. Sethulakshmi is in a muddle since it is not an easy task. Knowing of the unreasonable demand, Kavya publicly announces that she is withdrawing herself from the alliance and that the ceremony stands cancelled. All are shocked, though a few, like Sreejith, appreciates Kavya’s resoluteness and her decision to discard a person whose preference is material above soul.
After the shock waves receded, there is another annoyance in the form of a demand from the girls’ uncle and his wife. They claim that since Kalakshetra belongs to the family trust they should also get the financial benefit of the revenue from it. Kalakshetra is a renowned institution of dance and arts which has several students. Soon an idea to rent it for a film shooting arises. Disheartedly ,Krishnan Kutty and Sethulakshmi approves the suggestion. Keerthi, a wannabe actress, is thrilled at the prospect that her heart throb and matinee idol Jeevan is coming for the shoot.
There is an underlying feeling that Sreejith is secretly in love with Kavya and all family members are happy about it. As the shooting party arrives, and the production commences, Sreejith, the perfectionist who holds an aversion for film people, intervenes and the shoot is called off due to his perpetual unreasonable demands. Keerthi is irritated at Sreejith’s behaviour and accuses him a “party spoiler”.
Another jolt awaits Keerthi as Sreejith who takes to drop her at a film show where Jeevan is the star attraction, gets in to a scuffle with Keerthi’s friends. Keerthi blames Sreejith for spoiling her dream night and they both are at logger heads with each other.
Kasthooriman will be telecasted every Monday to Saturday from December 11, 2017 on Asianet at 8.30 PM.
