Mumbai: Assam University has felicitated its distinguished alumnus, award-winning ad-filmmaker and internationally recognised VFX specialist Sam Bhattacharjee, in a special ceremony held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat.
Sam, best known for his acclaimed work on commercials such as TMT Tiger, CGI Advert, Rajasthan Baby Shower, Heera Foods (award-winning), Axis Bank – International Card, Western Union, Rohit Sharma ft. Kurl On, and Southall Travels, was honoured by Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, Vice-Chancellor of Assam University and Chairman of the Alumni Association.
Prof. Pant lauded Sam’s achievements, stating, “Sam is a shining example of Assam University’s global alumni success. His extraordinary journey from the Mass Communication department to international acclaim is a source of great pride and inspiration for our current students.”
As part of the university’s ‘AlumniSpeak’ lecture series, Sam, who studied Mass Communication at Assam University between 1999–2001, returned to his alma mater to share his experiences. In his session, he drew from over two decades of expertise in filmmaking and advanced visual effects, highlighting how emerging technologies are reshaping media production, storytelling, and audience engagement.
Encouraging students to look beyond conventional career routes, Sam emphasized the importance of innovation, creativity, and global collaboration in today’s media landscape.
