Mumbai: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), the apex industry body, has announced key leadership appointments at its First Managing Committee Meeting for the financial year 2025–26, held on July 19 in Mumbai.
Nirmal K. Minda, Executive Chairman of Uno Minda, has been appointed as the Senior Vice President, paving the way for his elevation as the next President of ASSOCHAM. Amitabh Chaudhry, Managing Director & CEO of Axis Bank, has been appointed Vice President, subject to regulatory approval from the Reserve Bank of India. The announcement was made by Sanjay Nayar, President, ASSOCHAM, in the presence of eminent members of the Chamber’s Managing Committee.

Welcoming the new appointments, Sanjay Nayar stated, “ASSOCHAM’s strength lies in its ability to bring together leaders who understand the evolving dynamics of Indian and global business. Mr. Nirmal K. Their insights and commitment will help shape a more agile and future-ready industry voice.”
Minda is a highly respected industrialist with over 50 years of leadership in the auto components industry. Under his leadership, Uno Minda has grown into a global force, known for innovation and strategic international partnerships. The company reported a market capitalization of approximately ₹62,566 crore and revenues of around ₹16,775 crore in FY 2024–25. Mr. Minda is a past President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and a recipient of the 2019 ‘EY Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award in the Manufacturing category.
Chaudhry is a stalwart of the Indian financial services sector. As MD & CEO of Axis Bank, he has spearheaded a robust transformation focused on digital growth, sustainability, and customer-centric innovation. His extensive experience across banking, insurance, and technology has cemented his stature as a key figure in shaping India’s financial future. Axis Bank currently boasts a market capitalization of ₹3.41 lakh crore and trailing-12-month revenues of approximately ₹81,000 crore.
The appointments are part of ASSOCHAM’s broader strategy to align its leadership with the demands of a fast-changing economic landscape. The Chamber’s Special Executive Committee includes some of India’s most respected business leaders: B.K. Goenka (Welspun Group), Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani (Hiranandani Group), Yashish Dahiya (PolicyBazaar), Rajesh Magow (MakeMyTrip), along with Minda and Chaudhry. The committee continues to benefit from the strategic guidance of Past President Sajjan Jindal (JSW Group).
