Mumbai: Banijay Entertainment has acquired the global rights to Battleground, a digital-first fitness competition format created by Rusk Media, marking its strategic entry into the fast-growing fitness-entertainment segment.
The move strengthens Banijay Entertainment’s portfolio of talent-driven, digital-first formats, as it continues to expand its global content slate with high-engagement properties tailored for younger audiences.
Battleground combines elements of sport, reality television and audience interactivity in a format designed for global scalability. The series follows fitness creators competing across three stages of challenges, including a signature “Fight Club,” testing agility, endurance, strength, flexibility and speed. The format features four teams mentored by leaders who deploy strategic gameplay elements such as bidding and trading to gain a competitive edge, while 24/7 camera coverage enhances the show’s immersive reality experience.
The first season of the show recorded over 20 million views and generated approximately 2.5 billion social media impressions in India, highlighting its strong traction among digital-native audiences and its viral potential.
Helen Greatorex, Head of Format Acquisitions, Banijay Entertainment says, “Battleground sits at the intersection of creator culture, community fandom and intense sportainment competition. The large-scale athletic battles deliver genuine spectacle; while evolving alliances, rivalries and gameplay bring fresh competitive energy. This is a format with true global potential, tapping directly into the creator-driven landscape driving viewership today.”

Mayank Yadav, CEO and co-founder, Rusk Media shares, “Battleground was built as a premium, digital-first format created for scale, consistency, and deep audience engagement. Partnering with Banijay Entertainment is a significant step in that journey, bringing together creative vision and strategic expertise to further strengthen the format. By combining competitive intensity with real, relatable storytelling, the show creates a compelling viewing experience, while offering brands an opportunity to integrate organically and connect with audiences in a more meaningful way.”
With this acquisition, Banijay Entertainment adds Battleground to its expanding third-party catalogue, which includes globally recognised formats such as Ninja Warrior, Werewolves, All Star Hide and Seek, 100, and YOU LAUGH, YOU LOSE. The deal underscores the company’s continued focus on scalable, creator-led content formats that resonate across markets and platforms.
