The Legendary Composer-Singer, Bappi Lahiri passed away in Mumbai last night at the age of 69. One of the influential personalities in the Indian Film Music industry, he popularised the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema and was known as the ‘Disco King of India’. He was fondly known as Bappi Da and cut a fine figure with his unique collections of gold chains and sunglasses.
In a career span of nearly four decades, he had made extensive contributions to the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati film music industries. Bappi da has also been a part of a few commercials, he was part of CRED’s IPL ad campaign in 2020. The ad created ripples on social media and reportedly was one of the most loved TV ads of the IPL 2020 season. The ad featured Bappi Da along with actors Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. The quirky ad showed the celebrities appearing for an audition for the campaign.
