New Delhi : The troubleshooting initiative taken by Mr Punit Goenka, the Chairman of the newly launched ratings agency BARC India to break the unexpected crisis situation created by Information & Broadcasting Ministry has seems to have yielded a positive result.
Ever since, the news related to notification of I&B ministry to BARC India, asking the Television measurement agency to stop releasing further ratings until the necessary registration process is completed, has created an unexpected panicking situation, Mr Goenka had swung in to action by involving himself directly to co-ordinate between the agency and the top officials in I&B Ministry.
Apparently, BARC India is set to release the second week of data today, as per schedule. the new audience measurement system seems to have worked out a solution with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting regarding the registration formalities, according to sources from Ministry.
Earlier, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) had sent a letter “requesting” BARC to not release data till it completes its registration formalities creating a flurry of activity amongst the key stakeholders at BARC to rectify the situation.
At that time, Punit Goenka, Chairman of BARC and MD & CEO – Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, had said that BARC “will not contravene any guidelines issued by the Government.”
Sources also confirm that the compromise formulae was worked out based on the assurance by BARC India of extending all necessary co-operation as required by the I&B ministry and obtain the registration at the earliest.
