Come Pongal 2024, DD Podhigai to be renamed DD Tamil: I&B MoS Murugan

The Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, L Murugan, revealed that public broadcaster Doordarshan’s Tamil channel DD Podhigai will be renamed DD Tamil from January 14, 2024, the day the state celebrates the harvest festival of Pongal.

He made the announcement during an interaction with the media in Chennai on November 10, 2023.

The channel has donned the name DD Podhigai since 2000.

The Minister revealed that the channel would air new shows including political debates. Doordarshan journalists would hit the ground and gather news, said Murugan, according to a report on OneIndia.com.
