Mumbai: DP World, a global leader in smart logistics solutions, has announced the signing of India’s rising batting sensation Abhishek Sharma as its newest brand ambassador. He becomes the third star athlete to join DP World’s growing sports roster, alongside cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and global golf champion Tommy Fleetwood.
The partnership comes on the back of a breakthrough year for Sharma. At the 2025 DP World Asia Cup, he set a new record for the highest aggregate runs in a single T20I edition, scoring 314 runs in seven innings and earning the Player of the Tournament title. His consistent performances in international cricket have also propelled him to World No. 1 in the ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings — the highest rating ever achieved.
As part of this long-term association, Sharma will represent DP World across brand and stakeholder initiatives, including media engagements and digital storytelling that reflect their shared commitment to innovation and performance.
Rizwan Soomar, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Middle East, North Africa & India Subcontinent, DP World, said, “We are delighted to welcome Abhishek Sharma to the DP World family as our new brand ambassador — a stellar addition to our circle of sporting champions. At DP World, our brand purpose is to ‘Change What’s Possible’ — a philosophy that Abhishek truly embodies. On the field, he represents talent, fearlessness, and joy in equal measure — redefining what it means to go beyond boundaries. As we look ahead to a season of exciting ICC tournaments, we look forward to cheering him on and wish him continued success on this remarkable journey.”
Abhishek Sharma shared his excitement about the partnership, stating, “I am thrilled to sign as a DP World brand ambassador. Cricket has given me everything, shaping who I am both on and off the pitch, so I know first-hand the impact that it can have. DP World is a company that is clearly committed to helping grow the sport, making it more accessible for more players, in more places across the globe. I look forward to being part of this journey, working together to grow the game for everyone.”
Sharma’s first official engagement with DP World took place during the Diwali with the Stars celebration at the inaugural DP World India Championship last month. The announcement is supported by a special video showcasing Sharma receiving a personalised shirt, with an appearance by Sachin Tendulkar and Tommy Fleetwood.
The signing strengthens DP World’s expanding presence in global cricket, which already includes its partnerships with the International Cricket Council, the DP World Asia Cup, Delhi Capitals (Men’s and Women’s teams), DP World ILT20, and SA20.
Under its Beyond Boundaries Initiative launched in October 2023, DP World continues to invest in growing cricket at the grassroots level. Through its kits-for-runs programme — delivering ten cricket kits for every 100 runs scored in ICC tournaments — the company has so far distributed twelve refurbished shipping containers to cricket clubs worldwide along with 3,000 cricket kits, with many more to come.
