New Delhi: Havas Creative India, the creative arm of Havas India, has achieved a significant milestone on the global stage by securing five awards at the prestigious Clio Awards 2025 for its impactful campaign, Ink of Democracy. Developed in partnership with The Times of India, the campaign received international acclaim for its poignant message and minimalist execution aimed at combating voter apathy in the world’s largest democracy.
The campaign earned:
-
2 Golds in Media and Print categories
-
1 Silver in Partnerships & Collaborations
-
2 Bronzes in Print and Specific Target Audience
Rooted in the symbolic use of electoral ink, the Ink of Democracy campaign made a bold visual statement by publishing The Times of India’s editorial page entirely in purple—the color used to mark voters’ fingers in India. With no headlines or logos, the stark design served as a silent protest and a powerful call to action, urging citizens to exercise their democratic right.

This latest recognition at the Clio Awards adds to the campaign’s growing accolades, following wins at ADFEST and Spikes Asia. With a total of 17 awards so far, Ink of Democracy has proven to be both creatively groundbreaking and socially impactful.
Rana Barua, Group CEO, Havas India, SEA & North Asia (Japan and South Korea), said, “Winning at the Clios is a significant milestone in our journey of creative transformation. ‘Ink of Democracy’ is a campaign that proves how powerful simplicity can be when paired with purpose. It reflects the kind of work we champion at Havas – fearless, meaningful, and designed to move culture. I’m immensely proud of our team, our clients, and the vision we are building together across Asia.”

“After winning the heart and mind of the world’s largest democracy, it’s delightful to see the Ink of Democracy being celebrated for its creative excellence at some of the world’s most prestigious award shows. My congratulations to the teams at the Times of India and Havas Creative Network India“, said, Joji Jacob, Regional Chief Creative Officer, Havas SEA & NA.

Anupama Ramaswamy, Joint MD & Chief Creative Officer, Havas Creative India, added, “This campaign didn’t need loud proclamations; instead, we relied on the quiet force of the printed page to remind a nation of its duty. The impact was profound: a world record 642 million voters – the highest ever turnout – exercised their right to shape the future. We’re proud to have created something that doesn’t just win awards, but sparks real-world action and showcases the timeless power of print. And none of this would’ve been possible without a brave client and a brilliant team.”
