Seoul: Dr. L. Murugan, India’s Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, met with Krafton CEO Changhan Kim in Seoul to deepen collaboration between the Indian government and the South Korean gaming giant. On his official X handle, Dr. Murugan shared key highlights from the meeting, signalling India’s push to become a hub for gaming and e-sports development.
In his post, Dr. Murugan noted that during the meeting, he extended a formal invitation to Krafton to invest in India’s digital and creative sectors. He also urged the company to partner with Indian creative technology institutes to foster innovation, nurture talent, and build sustainable industry infrastructure.
The minister’s message added that Mr. Kim expressed interest in co-development projects, talent training programs, and expanding Krafton’s startup support initiatives in India. According to Dr. Murugan, these initiatives align closely with India’s broader ambition to grow as a global centre for digital entertainment and e-sports.
Dr. Murugan’s post underlined that India is keen on enhancing synergies between government, academia, and industry players in the digital creative space. “Our meeting with Krafton marks a step forward in strengthening India–Korea cooperation in gaming and technology,” he wrote.
The engagement takes place at a time when India is aggressively promoting its gaming and e-sports industries. Policymakers and firms are actively exploring paths for technology transfer, local content creation, and skilling youth in emerging creative domains.
With the groundwork of cooperation set through dialogues like this, game development, esports infrastructure, and startup ecosystems in India could see stronger global linkages going forward.
