Is Aarambh on Star Plus the Indian Game of Thrones..!

Share Share ShareShare

If you thought production of television shows was an easy job for the makers, think again! Aarambh is a television show, which cannot be bound by monies or manpower. It has brought together the best of talent from across genres in India ranging from veteran actress TanujaMukerji to writer Vijayendra Prasad from Baahubali team and Director Goldie Behl under one banner.

The Production value of the show, Grandeur in every aspect of making, assembly of top talents in the industry along with the genre of the show draws parallels with the American Fantasy Drama Series Game of Thrones that is considered to be the most popular television series in the history of international television markets.

While, The show Aaranbhis a narration of two historic clans – Aryans and Dravidians – as they battle against each other to win the land for their generations and children. Game of Throne revolves around a dynastic conflict among competing claimants for succession to the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, with other noble families fighting for independence from the throne.

For Star Plus and other leading GECs in the country they have almost explored every aspect of Indian Epics and Mythology and they are in dire need to match the ever-growing expectations of the audience. Resultant was the show Aarambh that is not less than any mega budgeted period fantasy movie.

Amidst this story of war and bloodshed in Aarambh, the production has been employing top talent also for costume designing, artistes for props and security guards. If sources are to be believed, production house ‘Rose Productions’ led by Srishti Arya has hired more than 500 security guards to allow smooth transit of weaponry used for war sequences from one corner of the country to another. The show has been shot at multiple locations and it is no surprise that transportation is adding up to a huge cost for the producer.

Confirming on the same, Srishti said, “We are taking utmost care of the products not only because it is difficult to procure and make such antique weapons, but also because they have to be handled and secured by trained professionals to avoid any mishap.”

Aarambh has also been grabbing a lot of eyeballs due to its magnificent cast which includes Karthika Nair, Rajneesh Duggal and TanujaMukherji in pivotal roles are being shot in a larger-than-life manner with a lot of money being spent on VFX too.

The lead actress Karthika Nair, who is a very successful actress down South, is making her television debut with Aarambh and is very excited about the show. However, she was initially very apprehensive about taking up a TV show because of the long, stretched formats and the fear of stepping out of her comfort zone and taking up something that has a longer commitment. Goldie Behl had personally chosen Karthika to play the character of Devsena because he was looking for someone with South Indian attributes, and Karthika fit the role perfectly.

“I don’t work for money. “, says Karthika. “I do only quality work, and for me, the script is all that matters. When Goldie Sir initially approached me, I rejected it because I did not want to work in television. However, after I read the script, my approach changed completely. For an actress to let go of such an amazing script would be blasphemous. “, she added.

One of the main reasons why Karthika agreed to do the show was because it was a finite series, and also a very challenging and progressive character. She plays the character of Devsena, who is the princess – soon to be queen, of the Dravidian clan, and the warrior who saves her clan from the attacks of the Aryans.

All said and done, the show is definitely becoming the biggest project on Indian Television and no wonder it has drawn comparison with the most popular international fiction series Game of Thrones.

No doubt, Star Plus is charting a huge marketing push to take to masses and reach every corner of the country. The show will also be extending a tangible benefit to Star India, as its regional channels will also be benefitting out of it as the same can be dubbed and remade in to regional languages.
