Bangalore: Jagdish Sheth School of Management (JAGSoM) has announced a strategic transition in its Board of Governors leadership, elevating Dr. Jagdish Sheth to the role of Chairman Emeritus while appointing Sudhir Sethi as the independent, non-executive Chairman of its Advisory Council.
The move recognises Dr. Sheth’s distinguished contributions and global academic legacy, while bringing in industry-driven leadership to strengthen the institution’s future direction. As Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Sheth will continue to guide JAGSoM’s long-term vision and mentor its leadership team.
Sethi, Founder and Chairman of Chiratae Ventures, takes on an honorary role aimed at supporting the school’s strategic direction. With over four decades of experience in building and backing technology-led businesses, his appointment is expected to enhance JAGSoM’s industry integration, innovation pathways, and global positioning.

Sanjay Padode, Founder and Board Member, JAGSoM, said, “Dr Jagdish Sheth’s stewardship has been transformational. The elevation to Chairman Emeritus protects what we must never change at JAGSoM- intellectual rigour, global orientation and credibility built over decades. The appointment of Mr Sudhir Sethi brings in the perspective of India’s new economy, where careers move faster, innovation cycles are shorter, and industry expectations keep shifting. Put simply, the legacy remains the anchor, while the leadership lens expands to ensure JAGSoM stays relevant to the students it serves.”
Dr. Sheth, a globally recognised scholar and the Charles H. Kellstadt Professor at Goizueta Business School, has played a pivotal role in shaping JAGSoM’s academic ambition and global orientation.
Highlighting his vision for the institution, Sethi said, “JAGSoM is at an exciting moment. In India, management education must move faster, stay closer to real-world value creation, and prepare professionals for careers that will evolve every few years. I’m honoured to take on this role and work with the Board of Governors and leadership team to strengthen JAGSoM’s standing nationally and globally. I look forward to working with the leadership in building deeper industry integration, strengthening entrepreneurship and innovation pathways, and ensuring JAGSoM remains a first-choice destination for ambitious, future-facing emerging leaders.”
The newly structured Advisory Council chaired by Sethi includes prominent members such as A. Parasuraman, Rakesh Mediratta, R. Ravi Kumar, Benjamin Stevenin, Mike Shah, V. A. Sastry, Tan Chin Tiong, Richard D. Phillips, Vikas Gupta, along with Sanjay Padode, Kalpana Padode, Kritika Padode Bhandari, and Sridevi Varanasi.
Under the renewed leadership, JAGSoM aims to sharpen its strategic focus on industry-linked learning aligned with new-economy realities, embedding entrepreneurship and venture thinking as core leadership skills, strengthening innovation ecosystems through partnerships, and building a stronger global brand through academic excellence and collaborations.
