Mumbai: In a bold move to catalyze the creative ambitions of India’s youth, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) on Saturday. The IICT will serve as a dynamic hub where creativity, technology, and innovation converge—empowering the next generation to thrive in the global digital and content economy.
Highlighting a deepening partnership between the government and industry, seven global tech giants—JioStar, Google, Adobe, Meta, Apple, NVIDIA, and Microsoft—formally exchanged Letters of Intent with IICT. This collaboration signals their shared commitment to co-developing future-ready skills, platforms, and tools that will define the next era of creative technology.
With Mumbai as its home, IICT is envisioned as a global centre of excellence—an ecosystem where young creators will be equipped to innovate, lead, and reimagine the possibilities of immersive media, storytelling, and content creation.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjog Gupta, CEO – Sports & Live Experiences, JioStar, said, “The launch of IICT at WAVES 2025 is a progressive stride towards establishing India as a global creative powerhouse. Talent is the cornerstone of the creative economy. At JioStar, we believe in the transformational power of connectivity combined with creativity to unlock infinite possibilities. We are proud to support this mission to develop a world-class institution in Mumbai that will drive media innovation. The convergence of talent, technology, and policy will not only redefine consumer experiences but also cultivate globally competitive talent poised to lead on the world stage.”
