Mumbai: In a major breakthrough against digital piracy, JioStar’s proactive efforts have resulted in decisive action against Rolex TV, an illegal IPTV application unlawfully distributing premium content across India. Acting swiftly on JioStar’s complaint, law enforcement authorities in Annamayya District, Andhra Pradesh, successfully dismantled the piracy operation and shut down the app, reinforcing India’s growing zero-tolerance approach toward digital piracy.
The crackdown was driven by targeted intelligence from JioStar’s Distribution Business Growth team, which has been tracking piracy networks across multiple regions. Their real-time data and surveillance efforts enabled JioStar’s anti-piracy unit to disrupt and dismantle the ecosystem surrounding Rolex TV.
Investigations revealed that Rolex TV was illegally streaming over 10,000 linear channels and offering a massive library of global on-demand content, in blatant violation of intellectual property and broadcast rights. The operators reportedly leveraged Telegram and similar digital platforms to recruit civilians—particularly targeting youth through misleading “work-from-home” offers. Disturbingly, one minor was found to be involved, having been misled into participating in the operation—underscoring the growing social and ethical risks of online piracy networks.
Authorities’ intervention resulted in the complete shutdown of Rolex TV, marking a significant win in the fight against cross-border piracy networks. Beyond the financial losses to legitimate platforms, the case highlights the broader cultural and national security risks associated with unrestricted illegal content circulation.
This isn’t JioStar’s first success in combating large-scale piracy. Earlier this year, the company, in collaboration with Gujarat Cyber Police, dismantled the BOS IPTV piracy network, which was causing an estimated ₹700 crore in revenue loss to legitimate broadcasters and platforms.
This incident underscores JioStar’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with law enforcement agencies and industry stakeholders to safeguard India’s digital ecosystem. The company continues to invest in advanced ground intelligence, legal enforcement, and public awareness programs aimed at curbing piracy and protecting the interests of both content creators and consumers.
As India’s digital entertainment landscape continues to expand, JioStar’s sustained vigilance and partnership with authorities serve as a strong deterrent—ensuring that innovation and creativity in the content industry are protected, valued, and secure.
