Mumbai: In a significant anti-piracy action, JioStar’s has successfully dismantled a large-scale digital piracy syndicate operating an unauthorized IPTV service under the name BOS IPTV on the day TATA IPL 2026 tips off.
The investigation was initiated after JioStar identified the rogue platform operating through the domain www.bostv.org, which was illegally distributing premium television content. Following a detailed probe, JioStar filed a criminal complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. Based on the complaint, an FIR (No. 0005 dated 26 March 2026) was registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023; Sections 43 and 66D of the Information Technology Act, 2008; and Sections 51 and 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957.
The infringing platform was found to be offering access to over 10,000 linear channels and a vast library of over 25,000 video-on-demand titles through its proprietary BOS IPTV player. As per claims made on the platform, the service had approximately 64,000 active subscribers and was operated by a team of around 20 individuals.
Law enforcement authorities have arrested the primary accused, with further arrests expected in the coming days across multiple states, indicating the presence of a wider, multi-state piracy network operating in the country.
The website bostv.org has since been taken down by the operators, marking a critical step in curbing illegal streaming activities ahead of one of India’s biggest sporting events.
