Chennai: Tamil Entertainment Channel Kalaignar TV is set to launch two new fiction shows to strengthen its Prime Time offferings. The move is part of the channel’s aggressive growth plans.
With the addition of two new shows Ponni C/o Rani and Kannethirey Thondrinal, Kalaingnar TV aims to power-up 8 PM to 9 PM time band. While Ponni C/o Rani produced by actor Radhikaa Sarathkumar’s Radaan Media Works is slotted at 8 PM (Monday to Saturday) starting 27th June, Kannethirey Thondrinal is scheduled to be aired at 8:30 PM (Mon- Sat).
Ponni C/o Rani is the first original fiction show produced by Radaan Media Works for a channel outside the Sun TV Network channels, this marks the changing business proposition between Sun TV Network and of the production house Radaan Media Works. It may be noted that Vikatan Televistas, a leading production house which delivered promising top rated shows on Sun TV Network went on to produce shows on Vijay TV, discounting its long standing relationship with Sun TV Network.
Exit of Radaan and Vikatan from Sun TV Network also resulted in many yesteryear serials of Sun TV being repeated on other Tamil Entertainment Channels.
Kalaignar TV, which is associated with the ruling DMK, has acquired the satellite rights of many big budget movies in the recent past. With the support of new movies and refreshing content line-up the channel is garnering around 150+ GRPs making it a promising No. 4 player in Tamil GEC Space.
