Saatchi & Saatchi India highlights structural strength with Captain Steel TVC featuring Sourav Ganguly

Kolkata: Saatchi & Saatchi India has launched a new television commercial for Captain Steel, aimed at driving consumer awareness in India’s largely commoditised TMT rebars category and underscoring their critical role in construction.

The campaign brings focus to the often-overlooked importance of TMT rebars (Thermo-Mechanically Treated reinforcement bars), which are essential in strengthening concrete structures by bearing tensile load and enhancing durability. Through this initiative, the agency seeks to elevate category understanding by simplifying technical knowledge into relatable consumer messaging.

Featuring cricket icon Sourav Ganguly, the TVC draws a compelling parallel between cement and TMT rebars, highlighting a key engineering principle—while cement manages compressive load, TMT rebars handle tensile strength. The narrative encourages homebuilders to give equal importance to both materials when constructing homes.

The film opens with homeowners carefully selecting cement before posing a thought-provoking question: do they exercise the same diligence when choosing TMT rebars?

Commenting on the campaign, Debanjan Basak, Executive Creative Director, Saatchi & Saatchi India, said, “Our challenge was to make an invisible product feel important. By bringing cement and TMT together, we translated engineering logic into a human truth – that every strong home is built on shared strength.”

Amar Prakash, National Head – Marketing and Strategy (SLM), Captain Steel, added, “At Captain Steel, we believe in shaping the category, not just participating in it —through legacy of continuous innovation in products and processes. This film is part of our larger mission to educate consumers about the science behind strong construction. A home’s strength depends equally on cement and TMT rebars, and informed choices can make all the difference.”

The campaign is currently live across television and digital platforms, extending Captain Steel’s brand message of ‘Strong Home, Strong Nation’ while aiming to drive more informed decision-making among homebuilders.
