Mumbai: After a successful theatrical run earlier this year, the Marathi family entertainer Aga Aga Sunbai! Kay Mhantay Sasubai? is set to make its digital debut on the Marathi version of ZEE5 on March 19, coinciding with the festive celebration of Gudi Padwa. Directed by Kedar Shinde and produced by Zee Studios in association with Sunflower Studios, the film offers a heartwarming and relatable portrayal of the evolving relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
Blending humour with emotional depth, the story follows Manasvi, a newly married woman, and her mother-in-law Smita. What begins as a clash of personalities gradually unfolds into a journey of understanding, acceptance, and unexpected companionship. Through everyday moments, witty exchanges and heartfelt situations, the film highlights how family bonds strengthen over time through empathy and shared experiences.
The film features a strong ensemble cast including Nirmiti Sawant, Prarthana Behere, Rajan Bhise and Nakul Ghanekar. Having resonated with audiences during its theatrical release for its engaging storytelling and performances, the film is now set to reach viewers across the globe through its digital premiere.
Director Kedar Shinde shared, “This story comes from very familiar spaces in our homes, the playful banter, the disagreements, and eventually the understanding between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Through humour and emotion, we wanted to present a relationship that evolves beyond stereotypes and highlights the strength that women bring to a family”.
Actor Nirmiti Sawant added, “What makes this film special is that while it begins with humour and conflict, it slowly reveals a very emotional and layered story about two women learning to understand each other. Playing Smita was incredibly enjoyable because she is strong, expressive, and very real”.
Prarthana Behere said, “Manasvi represents many young women exploring new family dynamics after marriage. The film shows that relationships are not always perfect from the start, but with patience and empathy they can become incredibly meaningful. I’m excited that audiences will now get to experience this journey on ZEE5”.
With its blend of humour, emotion and relatable family moments, Aga Aga Sunbai! Kay Mhantay Sasubai? aims to offer viewers across generations a wholesome and entertaining watch when it premieres on ZEE5 this Gudi Padwa.
