Kochi: Reinforcing the enduring influence of language as a catalyst for change, Mathrubhumi Group has partnered with the Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation for the 10th Kerala Edition of Federal Bank Speak for India, themed “Reshaping Narratives through Power of Words”. The initiative continues its mission of empowering young voices and encouraging meaningful public discourse, with the Grand Finale scheduled to be held on January 16, 2026.
Launched in 2014, Speak for India was conceptualised to provide college students with a credible platform to articulate their views on social issues, national developments, and other topical subjects shaping contemporary society. Over the years, the initiative has evolved into a prominent youth engagement programme, fostering critical thinking, confident expression, and informed debate among students across the country.
The 10th edition of the Kerala chapter marks a significant milestone, bringing together alumni of the programme and offering cash prizes worth ₹7 lakh to winners. The competition is being conducted across four structured levels—Block, Zonal, Semi-Final, and Grand Finale—with qualifying rounds hosted within participating college campuses, ensuring wide accessibility and grassroots participation.
The State-Level Inauguration of Federal Bank Speak for India, Kerala Edition 2025–26 was held at Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram. The event was inaugurated by Smt. Dr. Vasuki IAS, Secretary, General Education Department, Government of Kerala, highlighting the programme’s emphasis on nurturing articulate, socially responsible, and future-ready youth.
Speaking about the association, Devika Shreyams Kumar, Director – Operations, Mathrubhumi Group, said, “We feel privileged to be associated with federal bank for this one of its kind initiative which helps in bringing together students, educators, and thought leaders, under one platform, setting the tone for a transformative journey that empowers young voices to engage in meaningful dialogue, critical thinking, and nation-building conversations”.
The 2025–26 edition is currently underway, with participants given the option to debate in either English or Malayalam. The contest is being hosted at common venues accessible to students from various colleges, with registrations facilitated through an online process. Through this continued collaboration, Mathrubhumi and Federal Bank reaffirm their commitment to shaping informed dialogue and enabling the next generation to reshape narratives through the power of words.
