MTV launches #TuchchVichaar campaign to commemorate Pride Month and beyond

National: MTV has introduced #TuchchVichaar campaign for Pride Month, aiming to normalize LGBTQIA+ acceptance. Through a short film and social media, MTV creates an impactful movement promoting inclusivity. The campaign reflects MTV’s commitment to an inclusive society for all individuals, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity, to live authentically without discrimination.

MTV’s campaign film envisions a world where LGBTQIA+ individuals are normative, highlighting a heterosexual person who feels out of place. Facing criticism and discrimination, he inspires a call to action against bullying and intolerance.

Despite advancements in LGBTQIA+ rights, homophobia lingers due to ignorance and prejudice. In some regions, homosexuality is misconstrued as a mental disorder or moral flaw, resulting in discrimination. MTV’s #TuchchVichaar campaign combats these narrow-minded beliefs that fuel discrimination.

A key feature of #TuchchVichaar is the innovative use of the ‘🤏🏻’ emoji to call out homophobia. Recognizing the widespread use of emojis among Gen Z and Millennials, the campaign uses this relatable symbol to spread its message in an engaging, non-preachy way.

Anshul Ailawadi, Business Head, Youth, Music, and English Entertainment cluster, Viacom18, said, “Awareness is the starting point of LGBTQIA+ allyship and action. Our #TucchhaVichaar campaign aims to make the GenZ aware of unconscious biases in a simple yet clever way. The role reversal encourages a more empathetic view of the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. We hope the film inspires everyone who watches it to become better allies in action.”

MTV Talent, including Amir Hossein, Azma Fallah, and Sandy Saha, supported the initiative by sharing love on social media. The campaign’s short film and emoji usage aim to spark meaningful conversations and encourage LGBTQIA+ inclusivity.
