Mumbai: Music Nova, a leading record label from the house of Media Nova specialising in regional and spiritual music, has announced a strategic publishing partnership with Universal Music Publishing India (UMPI), part of the global powerhouse Universal Music Publishing Group.
Under the agreement, UMPI will administer Music Nova’s publishing catalogue worldwide, enabling licensing, royalty collection, and synchronisation opportunities across films, television, OTT platforms, and advertising. The collaboration is expected to combine UMPI’s global publishing capabilities with Music Nova’s diverse catalogue, enhancing the label’s international footprint and monetisation potential.
The partnership reflects a broader industry shift toward integrating regional and culturally rooted music into the global publishing ecosystem. With the rapid expansion of OTT platforms, short-form video, and streaming services, demand for diverse content—particularly regional and devotional music—continues to grow, driven by both domestic and diaspora audiences.
Music Nova’s catalogue spans multiple genres including regional, spiritual, devotional, and fusion music, featuring a mix of emerging and established artists. With content available in eight languages, the label is well-positioned to tap into global licensing opportunities across films, advertising, OTT platforms, and international projects.

Commenting on the partnership, Dhiraj Advani, Partner, Media Nova, said, “This partnership marks a significant step for Music Nova as we expand the global reach of our music. By joining forces with Universal Music Publishing India, we aim to maximize the impact of our artists and compositions across platforms and markets.”
Together, UMPI and Music Nova aim to unlock new monetisation avenues while amplifying the global reach of culturally rich Indian music, reinforcing the growing relevance of regional and devotional content in the international music landscape.
