New Delhi: Neha Barjatya, one of Google India’s most prominent marketing leaders, has announced her departure from the tech giant after close to 14 years, calling the experience “the ride of a lifetime.”
In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Barjatya reflected on a journey that spanned India’s digital evolution — from the early phase of mobile internet adoption to the rapid digitisation wave and the current era of artificial intelligence. She highlighted milestones such as the Great Online Shopping Festival, the Internet Saathi programme, Pixel smartphone manufacturing in India, and the recent launch of Google’s AI model Gemini.
Appointed Marketing Director in 2020, Barjatya spearheaded campaigns for flagship Google services including Search, Maps and Gemini, as well as Android devices and Pixel hardware. Prior to this role, she was instrumental in driving initiatives aimed at expanding internet access and digital skills. In 2017, as Chief Internet Saathi, she worked alongside Tata Trusts to roll out the FREND initiative, which brought digital literacy to over 2.9 lakh villages and reached more than three crore women.
Barjatya began her Google career in 2011 as Head of Business Marketing and Digitising India Initiatives, leading projects like Android Skilling and the high-profile Google for India event.
Expressing gratitude to colleagues and mentors such as Sapna Chadha, Sandeep Menon, Rajan Anandan, Sanjay Gupta, and Simon Kahn, she credited the company with teaching her to “push past hurdles, stay grounded in purpose and never lose sight of what’s possible.” She added that she leaves with the confidence to “dream big” and the belief in “the power we all hold to create transformative impact.”
Barjatya has not yet disclosed her next move, but her legacy at Google India remains deeply intertwined with some of the company’s most ambitious projects in the country’s digital journey.
