New Delhi: The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has announced the appointment of Sunil J. Singhi as an Independent Director on its Board. A prominent figure in India’s trade and welfare ecosystem, Singhi brings decades of experience in grassroots trade leadership, public policy, and business governance — reinforcing ONDC’s commitment to building a more inclusive and accessible digital commerce network across India.
Singhi currently serves as the Chairman of the National Traders’ Welfare Board, and has been instrumental in advancing the welfare of small retailers, distributors, and unorganised workers. His leadership spans across key government and industry roles, including serving as Vice Chairman of the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation, Chairman of the Gujarat Labour Welfare Board, and Director at FCI Aravali Gypsum and Minerals India Limited. He also holds the distinction of being the first Jain representative on the National Commission for Minorities, Government of India.
Over the years, he has driven the implementation of large-scale educational, livelihood, skill development, and welfare schemes, positively impacting over 50,000 businesses and industrial units. His grassroots understanding and unwavering advocacy for underserved communities have made him a respected voice in India’s trade landscape.
As ONDC continues to scale and expand into Tier 2, Tier 3 cities, and rural markets, Singhi’s unique blend of community-centric vision and policy expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping strategies that are both technologically robust and socially inclusive.
ONDC looks forward to leveraging Singhi’s strategic insights and leadership as it accelerates adoption, fosters trust, and drives innovation across India’s rapidly evolving digital commerce ecosystem.
