Mumbai: Prashant Khanna has been elevated as Head – Sports: Rights, Innovation & Cricinfo Business at JioStar.
Khanna, who has been associated with the company since 2024, previously served as Head – Sports & Live Experiences Production Technology & Services. In his new role, he will lead JioStar’s sports rights strategy, strategic partnerships, syndication, innovation and business growth, while strengthening long-term relationships with sports governing bodies, leagues and commercial partners.
Announcing his elevation on LinkedIn, Khanna reflected on his nearly nine-year journey across Star, Disney Star and JioStar.
Prashant Khanna shared, “After nearly nine years across Star, Disney Star and now JioStar, I’m excited to be taking on a new role across Rights & Innovation for Sports, along with the Cricinfo Business.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across production, technology and innovation, helping build capabilities behind some incredible sporting moments. This role is an opportunity to build on those experiences from a broader business perspective, bringing together rights, partnerships, innovation and digital to help shape the next phase of growth for JioStar Sports.

In his expanded mandate, Khanna will oversee the acquisition and management of sports rights across domestic and international properties while driving innovation and business growth across JioStar’s sports portfolio and Cricinfo. His responsibilities also include identifying strategic opportunities through partnerships and syndication to strengthen the company’s sports ecosystem.
Prior to joining JioStar, Khanna held leadership roles across several prominent organisations, including the International Cricket Council (ICC), BCCI, and The Walt Disney Company. Earlier in his career, he worked with organisations such as News Corporation, NDTV, Turner Broadcasting, Reliance MediaWorks, Hinduja Group, Encompass Digital Media, Qsport Media and The Danceworx.
With extensive experience spanning sports broadcasting, production technology and media innovation, Khanna has developed expertise across areas including generative AI, broadcast television, new media, digital asset management, content management, sports marketing, strategy, sports programming and media production.
