PV Gangadharan, noted Malayalam film producer and Wholetime Director at Mathrubhumi, passed away at the age of 80 on the morning of October 13, 2023. He was hospitalised for more than a week due to age-related ailments.
PVG, he is popularly known, has produced award-winning Malayalam movies like Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Ennu Swantham Janakikutty, Angadi, Kattathe Kilikkoodu and Achuvinte Amma.
Mathrubhumi Managing Director MV Shreyams Kumar said that PV Gangadharan’s departure is a great loss for the social and cultural scenario of Kozhikode. He also added that it is an even greater loss for Mathrubhumi where PVG was a father-like figure.
In a story posted on the Mathrubhumi English site, Kumar noted that PVG was an optimistic and joyous personality. “We were very close and his death is a personal loss to me and my family,” he was quoted as saying.
