MUMBAI: Multiplex operator PVR INOX has launched Movie Jockey (MJ). This is an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot designed to elevate the movie discovery and booking experience for cinema enthusiasts across the country. By leveraging the familiarity and convenience of WhatsApp, MJ prioritises accessibility, allowing users to receive personalised movie recommendations, make bookings, and access all essential movie details, right at their fingertips.

Available 24/7 on WhatsApp, MJ simplifies finding and booking movies with support in Hindi, English, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu, streamlining the entire process and making it more engaging and convenient for cinema lovers. WhatsApp, a messaging platform in India will look to ensures easy access to this AI-driven assistant.

MJ’s AI capabilities offer users a personalized journey based on their movie preferences. The chatbot’s advanced discovery features tailor movie suggestions to users’ choices, including genre, language, location, cinema format, and showtime. It allows users to select from cinema formats such as Imax, MX4D, Onyx, ScreenX, Playhouse, and more. Through intuitive, natural conversations, MJ streamlines bookings by helping users easily navigate options and filter based on cinema preferences, while clearly distinguishing between 2D and 3D options to ensure users select their ideal format.

Beyond discovery, MJ is equipped to provide detailed information on wheelchair-friendly shows, subtitle availability, and accessible seating, ensuring an inclusive experience for all. Users can also explore upcoming releases, view trailers, read synopses, and get details on the cast, runtime, and censorship ratings—helping them make informed decisions with all relevant information at hand.

“Accessibility and personalization are central to the Movie Jockey experience, reflecting our commitment to transforming the customer journey in a digital-first world”.

“WhatsApp, as a highly popular platform, was a natural choice for MJ, making it easy for users to connect and explore movies. With AI at its core, MJ bridges the gap between audiences and their unique cinematic tastes, ensuring each outing is enjoyable and stress-free. Whether for the avid moviegoer or the casual visitor, MJ makes it easy to discover new movies, view format options, check language preferences, and more” said Sanjeev Kumar Bijli executive director PVR Inox.

To access Movie Jockey, consumers can visit PVR Inox’s official website, start a conversation via their app, or send a message on WhatsApp at 8800989898.

“We are always seeking ways to add value and convenience to users’ lives and PVR INOX’s Movie Jockey is an exciting step in this direction. With its powerful AI-driven features and support for multiple languages, the chatbot will demonstrate how conversational experiences on WhatsApp can simplify the journey for users across India, enabling them to seamlessly book tickets and do much more—all within their WhatsApp conversations”, said Ravi Garg, Director, Business Messaging, Meta India

“Enabling business growth lies at the core of everything we do at Razorpay. We are constantly looking for innovative ways to empower businesses and enable them with the right tools and our partnership with PVR INOX is a strong reflection of this commitment. By integrating secure payments directly into the Movie Jockey (MJ) experience—PVR INOX’s new AI-powered guide on WhatsApp— we’re enabling customers to make payments directly within Whatsapp, resulting in higher conversion rates. This collaboration represents a significant shift towards an all-in-one platform where businesses can thrive, build stronger customer relationships, and provide a smoother, faster, and more secure payment experience, all within the same chat”, said Khilan Haria, senior VP, head payments, product Razorpay.

“Together with PVR INOX, we’re enabling customers to seamlessly book movie tickets, order their favourite snacks, and get real-time support at scale. The GenAI-powered chatbot handles any complex, open-ended queries. For example, users wanting to know whether a particular movie runs at a cinema hall near them can ask: ‘Show me english action movies playing tomorrow night near me’, and get the answer in an instant. We’re excited to power this transformation, making movie experiences more convenient and enjoyable at every step,” said Swapan Rajdev, co-founder, Jio Haptik.
