Mumbai: R Venkatasubramanian has stepped down from his role as Chief Operating Officer at Havas Play, marking a significant leadership change within the Havas Media Network India. His exit comes less than a year after assuming the role in May 2024, during a time when the agency is undergoing internal restructuring.
Venkatasubramanian, widely known as Venkat in the industry, reported directly to Mohit Joshi, CEO of Havas Media Network India, during his tenure as COO.
Reacting to the development, Mohit Joshi said, “We are currently in the middle of a restructuring, but Venkat has decided to move on. I wish him all the best.”
Venkat was appointed Managing Director of Havas Play in 2023, when the specialist brand—focused on branded content, sports, entertainment, and partnerships—was launched in India alongside several global markets. A seasoned media executive, he played a pivotal role in shaping the identity and growth strategy of Havas Play in the country.
With an association spanning over a decade across two stints at Havas Media India, Venkat held several key leadership roles. Before becoming COO of Havas Play, he served as President – Investments, where he led the agency’s media buying operations and strategic partnerships. He has also previously served as National Head of Buying.
His career trajectory includes valuable experience at top agencies such as Initiative Media, MPG, and Lintas Media, making him one of the most respected figures in India’s media investment landscape.
