Faridabad: Radio Manav Rachna 107.8 FM marked its Foundation Day with the celebration of 16 years of impactful community radio service. The milestone event was graced by Dr. Arpit Jain, IPS, DCP Gurugram (HQ), as Chief Guest, and Ms. Aparna Sanyal, National Film Award-winning Director and Managing Trustee of the India Chapter of the International Association of Women in Radio & Television, as Guest of Honor.
As part of its flagship Community Connect initiative, 20 distinguished community members and knowledge partners were felicitated for their contributions as radio hosts across diverse fields including spiritualism, music, art and culture, literature, education, healthcare, social upliftment, environmental conservation, and gender inclusivity.
In a special recognition segment, five exceptional changemakers were honored for their transformative work in society:
Dr. Savita Bhagat, President of Roshni Educational Trust and former Principal of DAV Centenary College, Faridabad, for her dedication to education and the empowerment of underprivileged children.
Ms. Reena Rai, Founder of the Miss Transqueen India pageant, for her advocacy of transgender rights and inclusion.
Dr. Hemant Atri, General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at ESI Medical College, for his notable contributions to medicine and patient care.
Ankit Nayyar, President of Prabhat – An Awakening, NGO, for his work with specially-abled and underprivileged children.
Eco Club Faridabad Society, for their initiatives in environmental protection, ecological restoration, and sustainable living.
Dr. Arpit Jain said, “Radio Manav Rachna has shown how radio can make a real difference. For 16 years, it’s been about education, awareness, and bringing the community together. I appreciate the team’s dedication to this cause.”
Aparna Sanyal added, “Stories can change how we see the world. What I value about Radio Manav Rachna is how it gives space to grassroots voices that need to be heard. That’s how we build true diversity and inclusion in media.”
Congratulating the team, Dr. N.C. Wadhwa, Director General MREI & Vice Chairman, Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation, lauded the leadership of Jasmita Oberoi, Chief Creative Officer, Radio Manav Rachna & Center for Media and Communication (CFMC), under whose guidance the station continues to champion social causes and spotlight changemakers.
The event also hosted a fireside chat on Gender Equality, with Ms. Aparna Sanyal in conversation with Diksha Bhatia, Deputy Director, Radio Manav Rachna 107.8 FM, exploring the role of media in promoting inclusive narratives and advancing gender justice.
