New Delhi: Marking India’s 79th Independence Day, Renault India unveiled a striking 30 ft x 30 ft hand-painted art installation on the way to Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.
The installation serves as a bold statement and a living embodiment of Renault’s philosophy, Renault.Rethink. Its unveiling on Independence Day symbolizes a tribute to India’s spirit of freedom while also reflecting the unique Indo-French connection Renault shares with the country.
Brought to life by the acclaimed artist collective Doodle Mapuls in collaboration with Renault, the artwork reimagines the grandeur of ancient Indian culture through the lens of contemporary street culture, youth expression, and music. It merges Delhi’s iconic architecture with elements of urban fashion, musical instruments, and modern body language, creating a vibrant, pop-futuristic narrative.
Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President – Renault India, said, “This installation is more than art; it is a cultural dialogue. It is a heartfelt celebration of India’s vibrant culture, woven seamlessly with Renault’s French design sensibilities. Unveiling it on Independence Day is our tribute to the spirit of India — a nation rooted in tradition yet constantly reimagining its future.”
Strategically positioned at one of India’s busiest travel hubs, the installation is designed to engage millions of travellers.
Anisha Iyer, CEO of OMD India, commented, “This unveiling was designed to create a deep, genuine connection with the people of India by capturing the nation’s essence as it stands today: entrenched in culture, yet confidently moving forward. By launching it on Independence Day, we’ve made Renault a part of a day that honors India’s past, celebrates its present, and inspires its future, aligning the brand with a sense of collective pride and progress.”
Sharing their inspiration behind the work, the team at Doodle Mapuls said, “Titled ‘The New India Frame’, this piece was conceived to reflect the duality of India’s identity—deeply rooted in its past yet confidently living in the now. The illustration pays homage to traditional miniature art and folk painting styles, but evolves them with a reformed, progressive visual treatment that speaks to today’s global design language. The juxtaposition of intricate storytelling with bold, modern composition mirrors Renault’s own ethos: rethinking the familiar to create something dynamic, relevant, and forward-looking. Installed at one of India’s busiest international hubs, this work becomes a cultural greeting to the world, showcasing how India, like Renault, honors its roots while driving toward a reimagined tomorrow.”
Through this collaboration, Renault aims to push boundaries of creativity and rethink how the brand inspires. The result is a visually stunning landmark that embodies both nostalgia and optimism, perfectly reflecting the Renault.Rethink spirit.
