New Delhi: Payments and fintech firm Pine Labs is set to appoint Shalini Pillai Banerjee as its Chief Marketing Officer, marking a senior leadership move as the company sharpens its brand positioning and accelerates growth ambitions amid intensifying competition in India’s digital payments landscape.
Banerjee joins Pine Labs from Microsoft, where she most recently served as Marketing Director for India and South Asia, a role she took on in 2024. At Microsoft, she led regional marketing strategy across enterprise and consumer segments, focusing on brand, demand generation, and integrated go-to-market initiatives.
Prior to Microsoft, Banerjee spent nearly a decade at Google India, where she held multiple leadership roles, including Head of Consumer Apps Marketing. During her tenure, she was instrumental in shaping go-to-market strategies for some of Google’s most widely used products, with a strong emphasis on driving adoption and improving user experience in India’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem. She also led marketing initiatives across Google’s advertising platforms, with a particular focus on empowering small and medium-sized businesses.
With a career spanning over two decades, Banerjee brings a blend of global and Indian market experience across technology and consumer brands. Earlier in her career, she held senior marketing roles at Coca-Cola, and later co-founded a software-as-a-service analytics start-up, BrandIdea Consultancy, along with Eventus Integrated Management, adding entrepreneurial depth to her profile.
At Pine Labs, Banerjee is expected to leverage her large-scale brand-building and growth expertise to strengthen the company’s market presence as it competes in a fast-evolving payments and fintech environment. The appointment comes at a time when Pine Labs is focusing on expanding its product portfolio and reinforcing its brand narrative across merchants, partners, and consumers.
