Mumbai: SINGER India has unveiled the inspiring story of Meena from Gurgaon (NCR), a shining example of how skill development can transform lives and restore confidence. Her journey, marked by resilience and determination, reflects the true spirit of SINGER’s mission to empower women through stitching and self-reliance.
A participant of a SINGER-affiliated Skill Centre, Meena discovered the power of Sewing as a Skill at a time when she needed a fresh start. Through structured training, she not only gained technical expertise but also rebuilt her confidence—earning a certification that enabled her to chart a new, independent path. Her story stands as a testament to how upskilling can open doors to financial stability and renewed purpose.
Her transformation aligns with the vision of SINGER India’s flagship collaborative initiative, “Ek Nayi Pehchaan,” which has been instrumental in uplifting thousands of women across the country.
The programme enables participants to make a one-time investment of ₹9,000, which provides:
- A SINGER sewing machine at a concessional rate
- A 45-day structured training module
- Assessment support conducted with SINGER India’s guidance
- Certification upon successful completion of exams
Implemented in collaboration with NGOs, corporates, and eligible for State and Central Government funding, the initiative equips women with lifelong skills that help them achieve income security and become confident decision-makers in their households and communities.
Today, SINGER India works with a network of over 600+ affiliated sewing skill centres across the country, expanding access to training and enabling thousands of women like Meena to stitch their dreams into reality.
Through stories like hers, SINGER India continues to highlight the profound impact of skill-building and the transformative change possible through “Ek Nayi Pehchaan”—empowering women, one stitch at a time.
