Mumbai: Sippy Films, the iconic studio behind some of Indian cinema’s most enduring classics, including Sholay, is entering a new phase of structured transformation under the leadership of Shehzad Sippy. This evolution is backed by a strategic investment from Kuberans Tech Ventures Private Limited, co-founded by Jeet Wagh, completed at an undisclosed valuation.
A Legacy Repositioned for the Next Era
Sippy Films holds a singular place in Indian cinematic history as the custodian of rare, timeless intellectual properties (IPs) such as Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Shaan—titles that continue to resonate across generations, platforms, and formats.
The studio’s current restructuring is focused on evolving into a character IP-led content company, aiming to responsibly expand its legacy IPs while fostering the creation of new original projects.

“We are currently focused on developing new as well as select legacy IP in film and animation formats. Kuberans’ commitment allows us to take a long-term and competitive approach in building Sippy Films into a leading character IP studio,” said Shehzad Sippy. “Our goal is to build a sustainable studio model where our stories, characters, and worlds can evolve thoughtfully across formats and generations.”

“The investment is led by Kuberans Tech Ventures, a sector-agnostic investment firm with interests across media, technology, and education. Kuberans is also the founding force behind Ideabaaz, a national entrepreneurship platform backed by Z Network, which operates at the intersection of content, capital, and startup ecosystems. Coming from a media background, we deeply understand the long-term value and untapped potential of iconic intellectual property,” said Jeet Wagh, Director, Kuberans Tech Ventures Private Limited.
“At a time when the entertainment market is evolving rapidly across platforms and formats, legacy IP, when approached with the right intent and structure, becomes even more powerful. At the same time, building new IPs alongside these legacies allows for a balanced and future-ready creative pipeline. We are genuinely optimistic about what lies ahead for Sippy Films and believe this is the right moment to build with patience, purpose, and long-term conviction.”
