Bengaluru: Sitaraman Shankar, the editor of Deccan Herald and CEO of The Printers Mysore, has decided to step down, tendering his resignation on Tuesday, August 6. He has been with Deccan Herald since 2018 and took on the role of CEO at The Printers Mysore in October 2019. He will be leaving the company in a few months.
During his six years at Deccan Herald, Shankar led several significant changes, including a redesign of the publication, the introduction of the new tagline “The Power of Good,” and the launch of DH on Saturday and DH on Sunday, as well as a new DH app. The Printers Mysore also publishes Kannada newspapers Prajavani, Sudha, and Mayura.
Prior to joining Deccan Herald, Shankar’s career included roles at Reuters, Hindustan Times, Economic Times, and Network 18. He began his career at the Economic Times in India before moving to Reuters, where he worked in Mumbai, Frankfurt, London, and Dubai. He reported from Moscow, Vienna, and Singapore before returning to India in July 2012 to join the Hindustan Times. In 2016, he joined Network18, where he played a key role in revamping the group’s financial news website, Moneycontrol.
