Mumbai: In a bold and strategic move to defend its brand integrity and protect Indian consumers, Skechers has successfully dismantled a sprawling counterfeit operation in Punjab.
The crackdown began when Skechers uncovered a disturbing trend: social media influencers with thousands of followers were promoting and selling fake Skechers footwear. Among those identified were Honey Sethi and Prinkle, operating under the names Honey Sethi Shoes and Prinkle Shoe Hut, with multiple physical stores in the Ludhiana district. The counterfeit network allegedly extended to offering franchises to distribute fake versions of Skechers products.
Recognizing the threat to its reputation and the risks posed to unsuspecting consumers, Skechers swiftly moved to take legal action. On October 10, 2025, the Hon’ble Bombay High Court granted an ex-parte injunction against the accused parties, including unnamed counterfeiters (John Doe/Ashok Kumar defendants). The Court also authorized a search and seizure operation targeting multiple locations suspected of stocking counterfeit Skechers products.
On October 16, 2025, Skechers, through its lawyers Khaitan & Co, supported by local police and Court-appointed Additional Special Receivers, executed simultaneous raids across more than 16 locations in Punjab — including Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, and surrounding districts. The operation led to the seizure of over 2,000 counterfeit products bearing Skechers trademarks.
This landmark action reinforces Skechers’ continued commitment to protecting its intellectual property and ensuring consumer trust, while sending a strong deterrent message to counterfeiters across India.
Skechers South Asia Private Limited & Ors were represented by Hiren Kamod, Counsel, briefed by Smriti Yadav, Partner, along with Shubham Shende and Shubham Singh from Khaitan & Co, before the Bombay High Court.
With this successful operation, Skechers strengthens its stand against the counterfeit industry — a reminder that brand protection is not just about business integrity, but also about safeguarding consumers from deception and inferior quality products.
