Sony and Sun TV eyeing stakes in Arha media’s aha

Sony and Sun TV are reportedly in advanced talks to acquire a stake in Arha Media & Broadcasting, the operator of the South Indian OTT platform, aha.

According to media reports, Sony is eyeing a 26% stake in Arha Media valued at Rs 1500 crore. This deal holds significance for Sony, especially after the termination of the proposed merger with Zee. aha is a joint venture between Geetha Arts and My Home Group.

The Telugu service was officially launched on March 25, 2020. In August 2021, aha introduced aha kids, a sub-brand focusing on children’s programming. The Tamil language version of Aha was launched in February 2022.

The platform is actively exploring non-fiction formats in the OTT space.
