Mumbai: Hindi movie channel Sony MAX 2 brings to its viewers a cult movie, ‘Arth’ that familiarized the nation with the free- spirited and independent woman of Indian cinema.
A movie that was way ahead of its time, garnered appreciation for the director’s out of the box thinking, revolves around the life of a married man involved in a relationship outside his marriage and the complexities involved.
Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, the movie stars ShabanaAzmi, late Smita Patil and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in pivotal roles.
‘Arth’ introduces us to Pooja (ShabanaAzmi), who is financially and emotionally dependent on her husband, Inder Malhotra (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), the philandering husband and Kavita Sanyal (Smita Patil), a successful actress and the other woman in Inder’s life, the movie is a complex characterization of these three principal characters.
Besides the modern storyline, the movie boasts of beautiful ballads- ‘Tum itna jo muskurara he ho’ and ‘Jhuki jhuki sinazar’ composed by the legend, Jagjit Singh.
Sony MAX2 will be premiering the iconic movie on 19th November at 7pm.
