Mumbai: SonyLIV has broadened the mandate of Suvonkar Banerjee, tasking him with leading Hindi Originals for the streaming platform while he continues as Creative Director at Studio NEXT. The move consolidates creative oversight of SonyLIV’s Hindi content pipeline under a single leadership structure, as the platform sharpens its originals strategy.
Banerjee will now steer the development and creative direction of SonyLIV’s Hindi originals slate in addition to guiding Studio NEXT’s creative vision. The expanded role is aimed at building a more cohesive Hindi content portfolio and accelerating the streamer’s focus on premium local storytelling.
He joined Studio NEXT as Creative Director after serving as Editor at Disney+ Hotstar. His elevation comes amid ongoing leadership restructuring at Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), which has been realigning roles and portfolios over the past year to strengthen its digital-first growth agenda.
Since Gaurav Banerjee’s appointment to lead the network, SPNI has undertaken a series of organisational changes, including consolidation of responsibilities across verticals and selective workforce rationalisation, as it recalibrates operations for efficiency and scale in streaming.
The latest leadership move underscores SonyLIV’s push to integrate creative decision-making across its digital ecosystem and deepen its Hindi originals pipeline.
