Mumbai: Tara Kapur has been promoted to Head of Marketing for the Duolingo English Test at Duolingo.
Kapur, who previously served as India Market Lead for the Duolingo English Test, has played a pivotal role in building and scaling the product’s presence in the Indian market over the past three years.
Sharing the update on LinkedIn, Tara said, “After three years of building the Duolingo English Test (DET) in India at Duolingo, I’m excited to step into a global role as Director of Marketing, DET. It’s been a privilege to help shape a brand that challenges what traditional testing looks like and, more importantly, opens doors for students around the world.
I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built so far, and even more excited to take that ambition to a global stage. In her new role, Kapur will lead global marketing initiatives for the Duolingo English Test, focusing on expanding its reach and reinforcing its positioning as a modern alternative to traditional English proficiency exams.
Prior to joining Duolingo, Kapur has worked across several leading organisations including Vitamin Stree, Netflix, VICE Media, Kulfi Collective, Times Network, and Bloomberg TV India. She began her career as a Producer at Bloomberg TV India, building a strong foundation in storytelling and media.
With a diverse background spanning brand marketing, digital strategy, journalism, and media production, Kapur brings a well-rounded perspective to her new role. Her expertise includes brand marketing, marketing strategy, broadcast journalism, news writing, social media marketing, digital marketing, and media relations.
