Mumbai: TP-Link, a global frontrunner in networking solutions, has reported a significant 112% increase in router sales in April 2025, compared to the same month last year. This exceptional growth is largely credited to the unprecedented spike in digital viewership during IPL 2025, with millions of fans streaming high-definition cricket action across smart TVs, smartphones, and tablets.
The surge in demand has been particularly impactful for TP-Link’s High Bandwidth and Deco series, which are tailored to deliver seamless 4K streaming and multi-device connectivity. The High Bandwidth series saw a remarkable 141% growth, while the Deco series registered a 74% increase during the IPL season (April 2025 vs. April 2024), especially in the South and West regions of India—areas identified as key high-growth markets.
As cricket continues to be a cultural phenomenon in India, the IPL season traditionally sees a sharp uptick in digital content consumption. TP-Link successfully capitalized on this trend with its future-ready, mesh-enabled networking solutions designed to deliver uninterrupted performance in bandwidth-heavy environments.
Bijoy Alaylo, COO, TP-Link India, commented, “Cricket is more than just a sport in India — it’s a unifying experience that brings millions together. This IPL season not only showcased record viewership but also highlighted how deeply integrated digital streaming has become in the lives of Indian consumers. At TP-Link, we are proud to be a part of that experience, ensuring that fans enjoy every six, every wicket, and every thrilling moment without interruption. Our wide range of series are engineered to support this passion, delivering high-speed connectivity that enhances the viewing experience across devices. As India’s appetite for digital content grows, we remain committed to empowering that journey with reliable, future-ready networking solutions.”
A comparative analysis between January–February and March–April 2025 further revealed that consumers were proactively upgrading their networking equipment in anticipation of the IPL season—an indicator of growing digital maturity and consumer foresight.
