Mumbai: Visa has named Gaurav Ramdev as its new Head of Marketing for India and South Asia (INSA), strengthening its regional leadership roster. In his new role, Ramdev will join the India and South Asia business leadership team led by Sandeep Ghosh, Group Country Manager for the region, and will work closely with Visa’s Asia Pacific marketing leadership under Danielle Jin, Senior Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer, APAC.
Ramdev moves to Visa from Protean eGov Technologies, where he served as Chief Growth and Marketing Officer until October. He joined the company in June 2023 as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing brand strategy, digital and growth marketing, PR and public affairs, D2C initiatives and consumer insights.
During his tenure at Protean, Ramdev was appointed Co-Chairperson of ASSOCHAM’s National Council on Branding and Marketing for the 2024–25 term. He also serves as a member of the Advertising Standards Council of India’s Consumer Complaints Council.
Before Protean, he led marketing for RazorpayX and earlier spent several years at The Coca-Cola Company, where he managed brand marketing for the Fanta portfolio across India and Southwest Asia. His career began in software engineering at Satyam Computer Services, followed by leadership stints at ITC, Orkla Group and Britannia Industries.
Visa’s appointment of Ramdev comes at a time when digital payments in India and South Asia continue to scale rapidly, with marketing and brand engagement becoming critical to competitive differentiation across the ecosystem.
