Mumbai: Warner Bros. Discovery, in partnership with Trinetra, has announced the release of Nithari: Truth, Lies & Murder, a gripping three-hour investigative docuseries revisiting one of India’s most unsettling true crime cases. The series gains renewed urgency following the Supreme Court’s 11th November verdict overturning Surinder Koli’s last remaining conviction, marking his complete acquittal nearly two decades after the Nithari killings shocked the nation.
The docuseries makes history by featuring Moninder Singh Pandher’s first-ever on-camera interview, offering his account of the events as the case re-enters public focus. This unprecedented access, coupled with new material and expert insights, positions the series as a landmark re-examination of the infamous 2006 Noida incident.
Sai Abishek, Head of Factual Entertainment, Lifestyle & Kids – South Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery, said, “At Warner Bros. Discovery, we’ve always been drawn to stories that challenge us to look beyond the obvious — stories that linger because they reveal something profound about who we are as a society. The Nithari case is one such story: unsettling, complex, and still shrouded in unanswered questions. The recent Supreme Court decision only underscores how relevant this case remains. What makes this project truly stand out is the unprecedented access to voices like Moninder Singh Pandher, allowing us to re-examine one of India’s most confounding crime investigations through new evidence and perspective. With Nithari: Truth, Lies & Murder, our intent is to bring viewers an honest, layered exploration of a case that continues to haunt the nation.”
Premiering on discovery+ on Thursday, 20th November, the series revisits critical questions that remain unanswered: What truly happened in the quiet Nithari neighbourhood? Were Pandher and Koli the perpetrators, or victims of a deeper conspiracy? And how did systemic lapses allow such horrors to unfold undetected?
Director Deepak Chaturvedi said, “Nithari: Truth, Lies & Murder is an outcome of years of meticulous research, access to previously unseen material, and conversations with people who lived through this tragedy. The recent developments and Supreme Court judgements have only made the story more urgent. This series is not about retelling horror; it’s about context, accountability, and truth. By bringing together evidence, expert insight, and lived experience, we’ve tried to separate fact from speculation and revisit the Nithari story with clarity and compassion.”
The docuseries draws from police diaries, unedited confession tapes, never-before-seen visuals, and extensive interviews with investigators, forensic experts, journalists, and the families who have waited nearly 20 years for clarity. It probes systemic failures, conflicting narratives, and power structures that obscured truth and delayed justice.
Nithari: Truth, Lies & Murder offers a forensic, emotional, and psychological deep dive into one of India’s most haunting crimes—an unflinching exploration of truth versus power, and justice versus convenience—leaving viewers to confront the shadows that remain when closure is still out of reach.
