Wonderla Chennai marks first Pongal with experience-led brand film

Chennai: Wonderla Chennai has unveiled its first-ever Pongal film, using a festive, family-led narrative to reinforce the brand’s experience-first positioning and its core promise of ‘Majaa’. Building on the momentum of its successful launch campaign, the new film captures the lively dynamics of modern Tamil families, where age-old traditions coexist with a shared desire for fun and togetherness.

Conceptualised by OPN Advertising and directed by George K Antoney of Kadhai Films, the Pongal special uses humour, contrast, and everyday cultural cues to bring Wonderla Chennai’s proposition into a festival setting that feels contemporary and relatable. The film opens in a familiar multi-generational household on Pongal day, with family members pulled in different directions as the day unfolds and subtle distractions hint at a shift from routine rituals to collective anticipation.

The narrative then transitions seamlessly from the home to Wonderla Chennai, where ‘Majaa’ becomes the unifying force, transforming the festival into a shared experience. Through this contrast, the film underlines a key insight: while traditions provide the backdrop, it is experiences that create lasting memories across generations. Wonderla Chennai is positioned as a natural extension of family celebrations—where laughter, energy, and shared moments define togetherness in today’s context.

Speaking about the campaign, Pallavi Nayak, Vice President – Marketing & Growth, Wonderla Holidays Limited, said, “Pongal is a celebration of new beginnings, and for Wonderla Chennai, this being our first Pongal makes it an especially meaningful moment. As a brand, we wanted to start our journey in the city on a positive and auspicious note, with a story that reflects how families actually spend time together today. The Wonderla experience has always been about shared joy, moments where different generations forget their differences and simply have fun together. That insight shaped the narrative of this film. ‘Majaa’ becomes the common thread that connects everyone, turning a festival day into an experience the entire family can enjoy. Strategically, this campaign marks how we see Wonderla Chennai becoming part of the city’s cultural fabric, not just as an amusement park, but as a place where families come together to create new memories during important moments like Pongal.”

With this film, Wonderla Chennai invites audiences across Tamil Nadu to embrace the full spirit of Pongal, where celebration continues in a new and thrilling way when ‘Majaa’ calls.

Launched on December 2, Wonderla Chennai features world-class attractions, including India’s first B&M Inverted Coaster, Tanjora, alongside rides and experiences designed for all age groups. With a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and immersive entertainment, Wonderla Chennai is positioning itself as Tamil Nadu’s go-to destination for family celebrations—Wonderla Ippo Namma Chennai-la!
