Chennai : The trade body that represents the TV Artist in Chennai called as ‘Chinnathirai Nadigar Sangam’ will conduct the election on October 12, 2014. The election has been planned to elect the new office bearers for the post of President, General Secretary, Treasurer and other posts that includes Executive Committee members.
The election will be held at A.K.R. Kalyana Mandapam, near Virugambakkam Market between 8.00 AM to 5.00 PM. The results will be announced on the same day itself.
The upcoming election of TV artist association is witnessing an unprecedented competition with three cornered contest between Actor Rajendran, Actress Nalini and Actor Sivan Sreenivasan are contesting for the post of President and heading their own teams for various posts.
The outcome of the election was keenly observed by other television and film trade bodies as the previous efforts of merging Television Trade bodies of TV artists Association and Technicians association (FEST) with FEFSI, was turned down by Rajendran who was representing TV Artists and any change in leadership might result in change of policies that might have a huge impact on the future way of functioning of Television Industry in Chennai and expected to have a huge impact on the future negotiations capability of Television Producers also.
While the first team contests under the leadership of the incumbent president Actor Rajendran and he himself contesting for President and Ravi Varma for General Secretary with Treasurer post being contested by K.S.G.Venkatesh, The second team under the leadership of Actress Nalini looks formidable and strong with popular names ‘Poovilangu’ Mohan Generak Secretary, Treasurer – V.T.Dinakaran. The third team contesting under the leadership of Actor Sivan Sreenivasan consists of M.D.Mohan for General Secretary and for Treasurer – Bharath Kalyan.
While Rajendran is trying to retain his post, Sivan Srinivasan who unsuccessfully contested against Rajendran’s team last time, is making all possible efforts to taste the victory. However, Actress Nalani who is known for a very bold and open approach is having strong team with ten members of the Rajendran’s previous team who decided to dump him and support Nalini.
The current scenario projects a balanced contest between all the three team and the new office bearers selected out of the election to be held on October 12 will be assuming the office on 13th and 14th of October.
