Chennai: Zee Tamil has announced its festive line-up surrounding the joy and celebrations of Pongal. With a wide range of genres, the movies are sure to en thrall the viewers with its unique plot lines and excellent characterisation.
Begin the festivities of Pongal on 14th January with the fantasy-thriller ‘MaragadhaNayanam’ at 11:00 AM. Directed by ARK Saravan, the AadhiPinisetty and Nikki Galrani starrer narrates the story of two small-time smugglers who steal a highly valuable artifact that is believed to be cursed, which further forces them to seek the help of three friendly ghosts to safeguard themselves from the evil spirits.
The highlight of the day is the World Television Premiere of the blockbuster film – Mersal that is scheduled to be telecasted at 4:00 PM. Starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead, the film marks 25 years of the Thalapathy fervour in the South Indian Film Industry. Set against two generations, the film which was directed by Atlee talks about two brothers – a doctor and a magician who attempt to expose the corruption in India’s medical industry and how they avenge their father’s death. Featuring Vijay in three distinct characters, NithyaMenon, Samantha Akkineni and KajalAgarwal play the lead heroines in the film. The film also presents viewers with mesmerizing music compositions by Oscar winning IsaiPuyal – AR Rahman.
The celebrations continue on 15th January with the telecast of Shivalinga – the action-horror comedy film at 11:00 AM that stars Raghava Lawrence and Ritika Singh in lead roles. The story of the film unfolds as a CBI officer, who is assigned to investigate a murder, realizes that his newly married wife is possessed by the ghost of the young man whose murder is being probed.
The channel will World Television Premiere Vanamagan at 4:00 PM starring Jayam Ravi and Sayyessha in leading roles. Shedding his chocolate boy image, Jayam Ravi dons the role of a tribal man who escapes from the hands of men trying to capture his people. The story unravels as he finds himself in the care of a rich and spoilt girl, who starts to fall in love with him. Directed by Vijay and with music by Harris Jayraj, the film is a complete entertainer.
