BBDO India Launches ‘Ink Doesn’t Lie’ Campaign for INS to Reinforce Print Media’s Credibility in the AI Era
Share Share ShareShare

Mumbai: The Indian Newspaper Society (INS) has unveiled ‘Ink Doesn’t Lie’, a new print-led campaign conceptualised by BBDO India, part of Omnicom Advertising India. The campaign seeks to reinforce the credibility of print media at a time when misinformation, manipulated content and AI-generated news are making it increasingly challenging for audiences to distinguish fact from fabrication.

Built around the idea that trust remains one of print media’s key strengths, Ink Doesn’t Lie highlights the role of newspapers and magazines in providing verified, contextual and credible information. The campaign shifts the focus from the speed of information to the editorial processes and accountability that underpin trustworthy journalism.

Conceptualised by BBDO India, the campaign uses the metaphor of an oath to communicate the commitment of print media to truth and verification. The print executions spotlight the work behind every published story, including reporters who verify information, editors who question and scrutinise facts, photographers who document events first-hand and the press that publishes only after facts have been established.

The campaign comes against a backdrop of growing concerns around misinformation and AI-generated content, positioning print as a medium where editorial rigour and accountability remain central to the news-gathering process.

Speaking about the campaign, Vivek Gupta, President, Indian Newspaper Society, said, “In an age dominated by screens, social media, and constant digital chatter, the resilience and relevance of print media is truly remarkable. Across this vast and diverse nation, the printed word continues to hold a unique and irreplaceable position as we are not just carriers of information; we are the institutions that inform, educate, and empower the public at large. We are witnesses to history, active participants in democracy, and trusted companions in the daily lives of millions of readers. As we look to the future, it is clear that print will continue to evolve, adapt, and innovate. However, its core values – credibility, inclusivity, depth, and responsibility will always remain unchanged. These are not just attributes; they are the very foundation upon which the trust of millions of its readers is built.”

Josy Paul, CCO, BBDO Group & Chairperson, BBDO India, said, “In an age of infinite information, trust has become our scarcest resource. There’s something about the printed word that carries the weight of questions asked, facts verified and responsibility accepted. ‘Ink Doesn’t Lie’ celebrates the quiet courage of print that chooses verification over virality and truth over speed, every single day. A reminder that trust is journalism’s greatest invention – printed with the ink of integrity.”

The campaign will be amplified across the INS’s network of member publications, giving the initiative a broad national and regional footprint.

As the apex body representing India’s newspaper and magazine industry, INS has a network comprising more than 800 national and regional newspapers and magazines. Through Ink Doesn’t Lie, the organisation aims to strengthen the connection between readers and print media while highlighting the medium’s role in supporting informed public discourse and democratic participation.

The campaign positions print media’s editorial credibility, verification processes and institutional accountability as increasingly relevant attributes in an information environment shaped by rapid digital consumption and AI-generated content.
